How much capacity is used up when using RAID 10?
Hi all,
I was wondering, when using RAID 10, how much capacity was taken up. I think RAID 10 uses 2 disks for parity purposes. Correct me if I am wrong though. But I was wondering specifically when using RAID 10 with 73's and 1 TB drives how much capacity was taken up? I want to find this out so I can calculate what the total storage using RAID 10 is with both of those drives. Example: 146's using RAID 5 have usable capacity =4x133.65 GB = 534.59 GB
and so on. I am also using 10 disks in the RAID 10 if that helps.

RAID 10 does not have any parity calculation - it is basically Striped Mirroring.
The RAID overhead is the same as of Mirroring (RAID 1) - that means half of the available disk capacity will be lost for mirroring.

So, 10 FC146 drives in a Raid1/0 would be:
5x133.65 GB = 668.25 GB
