"Import Virtual Server" information

I haven't looked for any documentation on the feature but I do use it on a CX4-960 running FLARE 29. It is really simple to setup and yes it does require the vCenter credentials as that is where Navisphere is pulling the information from. It is non-disruptive as all it is doing is pulling some of the host config information from vCenter and adding that to the host object properties page in Navisphere. The information is helpful to a SAN admin as it provides a greater level of detail on the ESX infrastructure. But I don't find that it provides anything that I was missing previously but that is mainly because I also help manage the ESX infrastructure and have access to vCenter, and I deploy the LUNs for ESX so name the datastores based on the CLARiiON LUN number and Cluster so it is easly for me to tell in vCenter which LUN a VM is on and which array that LUN belongs to.

Can i assume there there is nothing required to be loaded on the ESX hosts or vCenter server?   I dont have access to the ESX environment so this might help me get a better look at things.

Does it buy you anything more then you could get from Storage Viewer ? From storage admin perspective ?

Right but you have to expand each Host to see the VMs running on that host to then see the VMs on that LUN. It would be better if there were an actual VMs tab to the properties of the LUN that listed the VMs. If you have an 8 node cluster running over a hundred VMs then it is cumbersome to expand each host to see the VMs on the LUN.

I don't think so. It is pretty basic information. It would be nice if you could look at the properties of a LUN and see the VM hosted on that LUN, but to look at VMs you have to look at the properties of a host, then drill down to each VM running on that host and then it will list which LUN the VM is stored on.
