This is the administrators guide so this has all of the information that would be in it.

This version allows a use to collect performance data if they have a performance issue - the files created by this basic version (NAZ) are encrypted and can only be read by EMC support.
You can send support the files if you are experiencing and performance issue. If there is a hardware issue, then support will make recommendations for resolving, if it's a configuration issue, then they will recommend that you contact the local EMC CSPEED (Clariion performance expert) person for additional help.

I'd need to send these to EMC to process them on the unlicenced one?
does the fully licenced product sit on my pc and read them in then? and what sort of cost would it be to buy it? (ballpark would do, is it 00's, 000's ?)
we'd ideally like a performance history of the clarions, not just 7 days - is that possible?
thanks for your help

If you need to continually monitor an array for performance, you would need to purchase the license for Analyzer - you need to contact your local EMC office for pricing.

To go an answer the questions that weren't answered...
No, the licensed product does not sit on your local PC. The part you are buying is an enabler to install directly onto the array. Then you can download the NAR files afterward (non-encrypted) and open them within Navisphere (on array or off array).
Your "historical data" will be from the point you start getting NAR files and pulling them down. Usually people set up analyzer so the files cover 26 hours (over one day) and they pull them down to get an overall view of performance for that day.

What is your meaning of "..regularly using Navisphere® Analyzer to monitor and analyze storage system performance?" what settings do you use and how often should this be done? intervals, etc?
I keep hearing there is a performance hit when running NaviAna, but how much of a hit?
