MirrorView/A promote while device group are in consistent state
Hi Guys,
I just wanted to know what happens when we promote the Secondary site while the sync is in consistent state. Once the DR is up, we can do the iops on the DR and once the primary is back up again, we want to failback on the original primary site, in this case , do we have to do a full sync of the DR site copy on which we might have worked for few hours/days, so that the same data is available of the original primary site or only the delta of say few hours/days are replicated back ??
I understand if the state is syncronized and we do a failover and failback , it always sends the data in incremental form, but seems that is not the case when we do promote while the sync state is in consistent state.

Hi,
As mentioned in the MirrorView Knowledgebook on Powerlink , this scenario is mentioned on Page 19. If the mirrors are in 'consistent' state and the secondary image is promoted, you would need to do a full synchronization from the new primary image to the new secondary image (old primary).
Thanks.
