MirrorView/A Replication Question
I have 2 CX3-20's in different cities. When I got them, we put them in the same data center, set up the mirrors and let them sync before moving the 2nd array to a different city.
The only thing on the storage are LUNs used by VMware VMFS (v3.5). I have had plenty of free space to set up new servers, so I haven't had a need to create large new LUNs. Well now I need to create a new 2 TB LUN. I only have a DS3 between the 2 sites. I know it would take a couple of weeks to replicate 2 TB's worth of data given other traffic on the circuit.
My question is this: If I create a 2 TB LUN here and a 2 TB LUN at my DR site and set up a MirrorView/A mirror between the 2 sites, is the software smart enough to realize that there in no data on the LUNs yet, or will it replicate 2 TB's worth of "data"?

Note: If both the primary and secondary LUNs have just been bound
and not accessed by any server (and thus contain no pre-existing
data, including disk formatting and signature data), you do not need
to synchronize the secondary when you add it. In all other cases, we
strongly recommend performing the initial synchronization to ensure
that the secondary image LUN is identical to the primary.
