Most Basic Question
Please point me to the right direction. What do I need to back end a server to SAN? HBA? What else?
Sorry, completely new to it.

But I am looking for an answer asap as the boss is buying the server and asking what do we need right now to budget. Sorry again, guys, but I would not be able to review the link till much later tonight...

Actually what might be a good start for you is if you download the CLARiiON Procedure Generator and create a few processes, like installing an HBA, installing SAN agents, etc. It will provide a good overview of the processes for connecting a server to the SAN.
On the main Powerlink site go to:
Support > Product and Diagnostic Tools > CLARiiON Tools > CLARiiON Procedure Generators

Furthermore: 2 HBAs (one for connecting the server to each fabric (= SAN switches connected to each other; you usually will have 2 separate SANs).
Enough FC patch cables (50/125, not 62.5/125) for connecting each HBA to the switch it needs to be connected to.
Powerpath with license perhaps so you can use more than 1 link for better performance instead of the free Powerpath which only uses 1 link, but has basic failover functionality.
Uhm...
Enough free storage to create LUNs in for your new server.
Ask your boss permission to attend the SAN management course.
