PowerPath notifications

I appologize if this has been asked before.

Quick scenario: In PowerPath (v5.0.0.94) SP B0 status changes from Optimal to Dead.

Question: where can I setup notifications for these and other PowerPath events?

Thanks in advance.

you know ..a path going dead in PowerPath could be not related to Clariion ..hba/gbic/cable/switch going bad ...you never know.

Did I post this in the wrong board? Am I blacklisted now?

yeah, we're actually replacing GBIC on switch and SP tonight, along with the cable. Got that info from EMC Tech support. I'm new to all the EMC and SAN stuff in general (learning as I go) so I didn't know if PowerPath talked to Navisphere or not. I appreciate your input on this.

The company has a monitoring solution that scrubs the logs already; I'm getting them to add the EMC events. Again, thanks for the help.

Thanks, i was afraid that would be the answer. Kinda wanted to keep all Clariion issues within Navisphere; oh well.

system log in Event viewer ? If you have applications that monitor system logs/event viewer for particular event id's ..you could trap that event id. Sorry don't know it from memory.

PowerPath is intelligent enough to know what's going on the Clariion ...but there could be something wrong in the middle of your data path ..that Clariion would have no idea about ...like bad GBIC on the switch, so to Clariion it would be as if the HBA got unplugged, host rebooted ..whatever, so in that sense i would not rely on Clariion for alerting.

apps like NetIQ, MOM ..can be setup to scrub your logs for PowerPath events.
