You may be correct or it actually maybe the tool that the service engineers use once they have completed the Clarrion install. Apparently it is a grad utility for the clariion. I saw it being mentioned around another storage forum. I was hoping to use it to populate a configuration management DB.

Seems some clariion users have this utility, I think I will just ask suport about it or the service engineer I know.

Funny you say CAP2, everywhere I have seen ReportCLARiiON mentioned it is with relation to CAP2. Maybe these are related. Is CAP2 available for the end user?

Where did you hear about this utility and what do you expect it to do for you?

I have never heard of it by this name, but it might be something we know by another name.

I got this from another employee who no longer is around, he may have gotten it from EMC tech, but not sure.

It creates a nice excel spreadsheet of things pulled off of the Clariion. I really like the drive layout that it creates, it has a page layout with the enclosure showing each drive, and color coordinated display of raid groups.

Ahhh... that all depends on your relationship with your CE.

All you can do is ask. They are technically not supposed to share it with customers (or so I've been told), but that wouldn't be the first time a representative of a company tried to convince me they were doing me "special favours" when it really wasn't that special after all.

Worst case scenario, you should be able to send your CE the SPCollects you want analyzed and they can provide you with the output.

I am looking for the same thing, anyone know where I can get a copy? should I just open a support call to get it?

Well, whatever you find out, please post your findings here. I'm definitely interested in knowing if there is another tool out there that I can add to my "toolbox".

I suspect thought that this might end up being CAP2. EMC will use this to turn an SPCollect from the CLARiiON into a more useful report. Although I still find the spreadsheet we use for tracking to be more helpful. EMC doesn't seem to be able to display the CLARiiON config in anything even closely resembling a graphical format that relates to the physical layout of the actual array!

Wow, this sounds like a significant improvement over the last version of the output I saw.

Yes, it outputs very useful info, and takes at least 10 minutes to run, then collate the data and put into a spreadsheet. I believe it does more than just spcollects.

The version I have is 3.0.3, but it does not appear to handle the cx3-80 correctly, and why I was wondering if there is a newer version.. The help->about box has this info.

ReportCLARiiON was designed as a tool to assist with analyzing CLARiiON FC/4500/FC4700/CX systems. It is built in Visual Basic v6.0 using Microsoft Excel 2000 components (v9 or above)."

I agree though, probably have to ask our CE about it..

I agree unless you are an EMC engineer or work for EMC, or have a document stating they do not exist. I have opened a support call regarding this tools and its availablity.

I'm a bit confused by how you know that this isn't what was being looked for?

And how you know they don't exist?

Could you clarify a bit please?

The tool is real and does exsist BUT it is nopt supposed to be for customer useage. If you get lucky you may be able to get it from your CE.

Something to keep in mind with this tool is it can be quite FLARE code dependant meaning it will not work as you upgrade

JHo,

You are absolutely right. The tool is code dependent. Depending upon the version at your disposal it will not retrieve all of the necessary data. In addition, you must have a compatible version of the Navi Client as well.
