SP faulting

Hi, I'm posting this in a new thread because the one where I posted it in has had the original question answered.

I'm trying to attach a DAE2-ATA to a CX3-40f.

My CX has three buses already in use, and I would like to put this DAE2 on its own bus (BE 3) since its 2Gbps.

I have followed the procedure with NST, but everytime I plug the cable into the SP it faults. I don't even plug in the other end.

I'm wondering if its the cables, but I have tried two of them. I had to have them made by a third party cable vendor since the CX3 uses SFP on its end and the older DAE2's use HSSDC1 on the PRI port instead of HSSDC2.

If I plug in a SFP-HSSDC2 cable into the SP it is fine, but obviously that doesn't help me with the DAE2.

Please help. I need this ATA array to implement a backup to disk scheme.

Hi,

Well... If when you plug the cable into the SP it faults and if the other end is not yet plugged in the DAE, I would seriously suspect the cable.
Maybe EMC can help you with this issue, I would open a hardware case.

I wouldn't use a third party cable for something that critical.

EMC actually makes a SFP to HSSDC1 cable for connecting Cx3 SPE to DAE2 and DAE2-ATA enclosures, they come in 5m and 10m lengths. I only know this because I saw the list of cable SKUs when ordering some unique cable lengths and quantities for a mgiration project. I would order two of those from EMC and try it again.

Ordering them now.

Thanks!

If you plug in only 1 cable you'll get an in Navisphere. As soon as you plug in the 2nd cable the goes away and all is fine.
