Uninitializing a CX-310

How do you go about resetting a cx-310 series? I've looked over documents and threads about this but they all see to be for ax series, and they do not work for cx (I dont even see a power button on the cx like the ax has, unless im missing something somewhere). Any help is greatly appreciated.

If you want to power off a CX-series array, you need to get the Customer Procedure Generator from PowerLink:

Home > Support > Product and Diagnostic Tools > CLARiiON Tools > CLARiiON Procedure Generators

In general what you do to shut down a CX-series array is to power off the Standby Power Supplies (SPS) - the battery back ups - the units that the main power come into first - there should be a power switch located there - shutting off the power there allows the Write cache to dump before power is completely removed.

If you just want to reboot the array, you can right click on SPA or SPB in Navipshere and select "Reboot"

I've power it on and off a couple times, that doesnt clear ip addressing and passwords , which is the issue. Without the password I can't log in.

I'll elaborate on this a little more. My issue is a lost password and an incorrect IP Address. Simply powering the array down is not my question. What I need is a complete reset of the security / ip information. I have tried the whole, /setup method , however when i browse to it using that I do not get the option to destroy security and domain information. Also due to the lost password I obviously cant log in for any method that may be available within the array. Again any help with this issue is greatly appreciated.

The only way to clear the domain security/passwords is to connect directly to the serial port on the SP. This will allow you to access the /setup page without requiring a username/password. You can open a case with EMC and have a CE perform this.

The following is a Primus(R) eServer solution:

ID: emc55746
Domain: EMC1
Solution Class: 3.X Compatibility

Goal How to log in to a Navisphere 6 domain if you forget your password

Goal How to reset the Navisphere User Interface (UI) password if lost or forgotten.

Goal How to recover a lost password on a CX3-series, CX-series, AX4-5 series or FC4700 array

Fact Product: CLARiiON CX-series

Fact Product: CLARiiON CX3-series

Fact Product: CLARiiON FC4700

Fact Product: CLARiiON AX4-5 series (running Navisphere Manager)

[NOT] Fact This statement does not apply: Product: CLARiiON AX4-5 series (running Navisphere Express)

Fact EMC SW: Navisphere Manager 6.x

Symptom Forgot password for Navisphere 6 domain and cannot log on.

Symptom Need to reset security because password was forgotten.

Symptom Lost password for CX-Series, CX3 series, or AX4-5 series storage system

Fix You must use a serial connection for the following procedure to work:

Establish a PPP connection to one of the storage processors (SPs).
Point your browser to this URL: http:// 192.168.1.1/setup
Click "Add a New Account."
Enter a user name and in the New Password Verification text box, type in the password again.
Click "Restart Management Server."

Note: You may need to restart Management Server on both SPs.

Point your browser to this URL: http://

Log in to domain using the newly-set username and password.

Note: You also have the option of completely resetting domain security. However, if you select this option, you will destroy ALL domain information, including domain information for the master, other arrays, and portals. If you decide to reset domain security, replace Step 3 with the following:

Click "Reset Security" and confirm. (You must reset security on both SPs.)

Then perform all other steps as described.
Note: If the procedure does not work, connect to the master SP and re-run Steps 1 to 7.

Note If the AX4-5 storage system is running Navisphere Express, this solution does not apply.

There is one more option to get the Management IP address that you forgot.

1. Download the Wireshark software from google

2. Install the software typically

3. Powerdown the storage box

3.A   Directly connect the management port to your laptop or management station where you installed the software

4. Launch the Software application

5 Power up the storage.. So software will detect all i IP address including the storage( When FLARE IS booted.. )

Hello

There is more simple way to do the same.

Just connect two management ethernet port of clariion box to network and use Unisphere/Navisphere Storage System Initialization Wizard to discover management IP addresses.

Best regards,

Alex
