Use of Navisphere Analyzer on another Storage Array ?

We are using CX3-20 for a period of time. Recently, we purchase another CX4-120 Storage Array.

For the CX3-20, since we are using Navisphere Enterprise Edition, Navisphere Analyzer is included. For the CX4-120, we only have departmental edition.

We just wonder whether we need to purchase Navisphere Analyzer for the CX4-120 Storage Array or the existing Navisphere Analyzer can be used for the CX4-120 ?

Thanks

It is specific to each array. Without the Analyzer enabler on the array you will not be able to use Analyzer to view the performance data.

In this way, I am able to run Navisphere Analzyer to collect data from that Storage Array BUT cannot view the data. Is it correct ?

On the other hand, can I send the data collected to EMC staff / consultant for analysis ?

Besides, does Navisphere Analyzer comes along with FLARE 26 and higher free of charge ? The CX4-120c is running FLARE 28 but Navisphere Analyzer is not listed on the software list.

Tony,
I don't think you can use Analyzer to retrieve/create archives from an array that does not have Analyzer enabled. You can use the command line to retrieve the encrypted performance files but only EMC will be able to view those. I have to double check on that last statement as I remember reading it but don't remember the exact details. I have never purchased an array without Analyzer so I can't test this.

I am not sure if Analyzer comes with FLARE 28, it definitely didn't come with FLARE 26. You can check by right-clicking on the array and if the Analyzer sub-menu appears, check if you can perform Analyzer functions.

Tony,

I recently did this on CX-500 with Flare 26 and I dont have anaylzer enabled. Yes, you can start the anayzer by right clicking the storage, analyzer, Data Logging and 'start'. It will create NAZ files for the time period you run it. You can retrieve those and send them to EMC for analysis. They will send you a performance report.

You do need to purchase a new license for the CX4-120. With the CX4 Series we changed to a single license tier for Navisphere Manager for each model and split out Analyzer.
