By my experience, It would be difficult to be able to do something without checking the logs. When having a situation like this with several failed disks, a rebalance process ongoing and already tried to set a disk as spare but not taking the role... I don't think there is anything you can do at this point without contacting support.
Is your SCOS version is up-to-date. If you are having a very old version you might have this kind of issues.
When i assigned the disk back to managed, disk automatically went to spare, even tho i had a multi disk failiure in that enclosure aswell as when i added the disk it automatically started RAID-Rebalancing wich still stays at 0% after 2 days.
I know earlier there have been some background proccesses that is hanging stopping it from starting tasks like disk release and raid rebalance, and we have gotten help from support before. but since SC8000 is end of life its kinda hard to get support.
