Hi,

Do you have any screenshot that you can let us see to identify what is the error that you are facing.

Can you take a picture of the console cable that you have?

Hello,

A review of your attachments show Observed Boot Log Details

  • The SCv3020 controller boots into u-boot, loads a SuperH Linux Kernel Image (gzip compressed).
  • Kernel decompresses successfully, but then:
    • mmc1: error -22 whilst initialising SDIO card
    • systemd[1]: Failed to insert 'autofs4'
    • Multiple errors indicate MMC/SD card initialization failure.
  • Ends in a shell prompt: /home/root #
  • iDRAC syslog restart message appears: idrac8 syslogd 1.4.2: restart.

This suggests the embedded OS cannot mount its root filesystem (likely stored on internal flash/MMC), leaving the controller in a degraded state.

Why SAN is not discovered

The Storage Center OS did not fully boot, so the controller cannot join the cluster or present volumes. COM4 shows boot logs; COM6 gives you a shell but without full OS services.

Next Best Steps

Contact Support directly

Do NOT attempt manual Linux repair. SC Series controllers use a Dell-customized OS image. Manual changes can invalidate support.

Stop login attempts. The prompt you see is not the standard SCOS CLI; it’s a Linux shell for diagnostics only. Normal admin credentials will fail

Factory Reset / OS Rebuild

Dell does not provide public ISO or OS images for SCv3020. Reinstallation requires:

  • Dell Storage Center Recovery Tool (internal use by Dell Support).
  • Access to the correct SCOS build for your array.
  • Controller serial number and service tag validation.

Recommendation to Contact Support directly and Open a Dell Support case and request:

  • Controller recovery / OS reinstall using SCOS recovery media.
  • Provide console logs and confirm both controllers’ state.
