update HD firmware
Hi,
Populated our SC5020 with a bunch of drives, all Dell SSD 1.92TB drives. I know they are drives made by Samsung.
Product ID is MZILS1T9HEJH0D4.
Got a few that are unmanaged and after some digging, those have a different firmware version which is CQL5.
I am trying to figure out how to update the firmware on those drives to CQL8, like every other drives we have.
Any pointer would be greatly appreciated, can't find anything googling nor on the Dell/Samsung support site.
thank you

The SAN rejects the disks that don't meet the minimum firmware requirement.
I was hoping to find the application/bin file to do it myself and save some time...
But i'll need to contact Dell support.

Within a Dell SC only Dell Compellent drives will work. If those drives comes from another SC you need to be sure that these a not from a SCv and that they are removed in a propper way from the previous system.

I can't know where they are coming from, they were used.
I don't see why it would matter if they were in a different SC/SCv, if they are formatted, all the data is gone.
Shouldn't my SC simply take them and initialize them in my SC?
Also, how can i upgrade the firmware on those drives?
thanks in advance
Eric

A drive from a SCv will not work in a SC because disks from a "cheaper" system cant install on a higher end one.
If your disks comes from a SC and have a existing raid config on these can be wiped when using the command line.
If you disk is a generic Dell disk they will not work within your SC.
