Officially I'm not suppose to post information on future planned EMC releases so I have to be careful on how I phrase this. Plans for future releases should be provided by your local EMC Support Representative. All information I am providing is subject to change without notice and is not meant as official notification.
With that said, there are currently no plans for EMC to GA 4.1(1c). Customers can put in a special request for it called an RPQ. EMC is currently testing 4.1(3a) for a possible future release barring any issues are found in our testing.
no i do not have a CCO account. I guess i could call HP and asked them for 4.1.1b code ..but i don't want to install code that they no longer support ..just to satisfy EMC requirements. I've asked for an RPQ for 4.1.3a, let's see if it goes through.
What do you mean? It is the same code. All EMC does is post the Cisco code on the support/partner section of Powerlink. It is no different than the code posted on Cisco.com. You just have to make sure that you download the correct version that is supported by EMC.
right ...the thing is this HP c-Blade system came with integrated Cisco 9124e switches so they are supported by HP and not EMC. HP does not list 4.1.1b as supported code for 9124e, they only list 4.1.1c and 4.1.3a. I am trying to upgrade to the code that is supported by both vendors.
Well that makes things difficult, trying to find a code level that HP and EMC support for those switches. HP is pretty bad at updating the code that is supported on third party products, I am actually surprised they support a newer rev than EMC and that they don't support the older rev still. Some of the QLogic cards they sell with their kit are still on code that is a few years old.
i know ...i am very surprised HP is way ahead of EMC on code supportability for Cisco MDS. Aran ..i want to ask you a question about your MDS 9513 and CX4 connectivity ..can you drop me a line at linuxrox@gmail.com
I'm pretty sure 4.1(1b) was supported by HP. About 3 months ago, when the 497 days reboot issue was discovered Cisco, HP and EMC published this 4.1(1b) version and we implemented firmwares in switches we bought from all 3 vendors.
cool ..not sure why but they pulled it off their website. Does it mean they no longer support it or they just want people to upgrade to the newest version. I am going to call HP.
