Alienware X17 delayed so many times

I ordered an Alienware X17 for about $5,000 at the end of July this year, but until now, my order has been delayed three times, and there has been no news about the revised ship date and the revised delivery date. I can't believe this is Alienware, which was once known for its customer experience, because this experience was very bad. Not only I have been waiting for nearly four months, but I have also been cheated by customer service many times! After the order was delayed for the third time, I asked the online customer service about the status of my order. At first, the online customer service replied that my order has been completed and it is under quality check. I am very happy because it means my order is almost In my hands. But after I waited for a week, I found that the order was still in production, so I asked the online customer service again. But the online customer service told me that I needed to call the Dell modification team, I called and asked about the progress of the quality check. The phone customer service told me that my order is still in the production stage. Yes, she gave an answer that is completely different from that of online customer service! This made me very confused, I repeated the online customer service and asked about the status of my order again. The phone customer service told me my order still has parts in shortage, but it can be resolved soon, and said she sure it will be shipped by Nov, 9. I choose to believe. When I waited for another week, today, I wanted to make sure that my order was already to ship, so I called the customer service to ask about my order status. This time, the answer I got was that my order still has a part in shortage, and they can’t tell me any estimate date. I am very disappointed with Dell Alienware. I don't know is this their attitude and policy towards customers or something? Retain customers with lies? I don’t believe that Dell hasn’t sold any X17 in the past four months. It’s obvious that my order has been being cut in by others, but Dell is reluctant to tell me the truth and value its customers. The most important thing for a company: integrity, I have never seen it in this shopping experience.

The answer depends on the configuration you ordered.  If it was a basic model (3060 or 3070) GPU, these are readily available -- some retailers even stock them.

If it was a 3080 GPU configuration, or an i9 CPU with the 3080 -- these are in global short supply, so the lead times on them are indefinite.

Bottom line is that Dell can't ship what the manufacturer can't build - you will either need to look for a different system entirely if you want those features (and you'll find similar short supply from all other manufacturers as well) or you compromise on a lower-spec feature set.

Just about every industry is dealing with component shortages, and some sets of options are no longer available (the X17 is no longer for order with the 3080 GPU, for instance, and just try finding some cars and trucks with full feature sets -- NLA due to component shortages).

I also ordered back in the end of July, just keep extending your order. I just got an email the other day saying they had started production of my laptop. Asking for the higher end components will create a delay, I knew this going in, just didn't expect it to be quite this long. I noticed today you can't even create new orders with a 3080 in it anymore. So just hang in there!

update:

I just called the Dell modified team, they said my order has completed and will be shipped within 24hours. I hope this is true.

no, obviously, Dell lie to me again, there is no any shipping information, and I just called them yesterday, they told me my order still in production stage. so, for now, my answer is, Dell is not honesty in this case.

Dell need to be careful with the lying. It's illegal in some countries and they can cop 7 figure fines for this anti consumer behaviour.
