Customer Service Nightmare

So, I just joined twitter (ugh) in an attempt to get in touch with someone at Dell that actually cares, figured I'd give @dellcares a shot and to my (not) surprise, I got a completely tone-deaf robotic response. So, I'm just going to cut and paste the whole interaction here because I don't feel like typing it again.

Does ANYONE ACTUALLY care? From twitter:

Hi, I just joined twitter to raise a complaint about my experience with my new(ish) Dell machine.

I'm already not inspired with confidence based on this interaction.
I'll start at the beginning shall I?

I saved up some money to put together my ideal personal computer situation. an external GPU enclosure, a high-quality top of the line video card, and a sweet Ultrabook  for maximum portability when I don't want to game, or use my GPU for machine learning tasks.  Extensive research told me the absolute best machine for this purpose is the dell XPS-13.  so, I treated myself, and bought the newest most powerful machine I could. The XPS 13 Plus 9320. I n April,  supply chain being what it is, and Dell ALWAYS having horrendous order turnarounds in my experience, I was ready for a bit of a wait.

Well, AUGUST rolls around, and I'd previously called Dell for clarity on why my order was stuck in a weird status, and was delighted when the rep I spoke to offered me some compensation, despite the fact that I wasn't actually complaining at the time.  Everything worked swimmingly for a month or two? With the eGPU plugged into the laptop, everything was fine, until the BSODs started. E ventually becoming so frequent that I called customer support.  Now, I'm going to paraphrase. D espite every technical support rep I've spoken to being extremely professional, and proficient, we've gotten nowhere.

I've sent my video card back to the manufacturer (which I had to do at my own cost because I had to wait so long to get the computer that I couldn't just return it for an exchange)  and it didn't solve the issue. F ine.  Every rep on I've been on the phone with has told me that they would get back to me within 2 hours of my emailing support.  this has NEVER actually happened. Even when I email just to get an update to know what's going on, I get radio silence.  NOW I got an email from Dell the other day asking to arrange a call back to further work on my issue.  after some back and forth in which the rep didn't understand my statement that I would be happy to take their call at any time, we arranged for the rep to call me at 10.  10 came and went, no call.  So, given the confusion, perhaps the rep thought I meant 10 PM for some reason. Fine, whatever. 10 pm, 12 am, comes and goes. No call.

In the 21 days since I opened this case, because gaming is how i like to spend my leisure time, I've spent an additional $900 and bought a second-hand notebook from a manufacturer I've never heard of before, and it works JUST FINE, no issues. works great with my GPU.

So, now I have a $3000 top of the line dell machine that can't do what this other  laptop can do with ease.  The cherry on top was when one of the reps told me that the configuration (using an eGPU) was not supported.  despite every resource on the internet recommending an XPS 13 for this purpose.

OH! And, I was supposed to get a bunch of Dell rewards dollars for spending all of this money on this top-of-the-line machine... which never showed up, and nobody could tell me anything about so, I just ended up having to buy the monitor similar to the one I wanted for  Dell, from another manufacturer.

Hi Ryan, I'm one of the Supervisors at Dell Social Media Support. I apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced. From my review, I understand that your computer is not working as excepted and you are upset since the call back which was promised was not done yet. Now that you’ve reached out to us, I’ll be making sure there are no unnecessary delays in resolving this issue. Your resolution expert might require further details from you to diagnose and resolve the issue. Meanwhile, I will be constantly monitoring the case until closure. Thank you again for your patience and understanding. Best regards, Dayanand S Supervisor Dell Social Media Team

The whole overall situation has been pretty bad, actually, not JUST that they haven't made contact at the agreed-upon time, further illustrated by this somewhat tone-deaf response.

Honestly I apologize with how bad your experience has been that absolutely is a pain. To be honest I cant think of a single thing off the top of my head that would cause such an issue besides having some type of defect with the laptop. That would require you sending the laptop back though and getting a new one which don't seem like the best idea seeing as you have had such a rough time with tech support as it is.
