Faulty G5 5500 - No comparable replacement.
Reported a graphics card fault with my laptop on the 02/02/2022. Laptop was returned to dell for investigation. Repair was taking a while and had to chase up. First of all I was told they were waiting for parts and they had been ordered. Then i was told that they had arrived and been fitted but there was also a problem with the screen and was waiting for that part to be replaced. The laptop had zero issue with the screen or webcam when it was sent to dell. A few days later i was informed that my laptop couldn't be repaired and the exchange department would be in touch. The laptop was then sent back so I could retrieve any data needed from the laptop.
After chasing and chasing I was eventually told that they couldn't offer a replacement laptop as there were no comparable spec and the only laptop available would be a downgrade and that they would offer a refund. As I had been waiting for a call from the exchange department I had been looking at available laptops in anticipation of what could be offered and there are in fact 2 models(both with AMD or Intel processor options) available on the dell website with a comparable spec.
When I purchased my laptop, I was in possession of a discount code that saved me roughly £200-300 and only paid approximately £1200 for the laptop. I cannot remember as I purchased the laptop through a salary sacrifice scheme in work so don't have the original receipt. The G series no longer use the 2070/3070 series graphics cards and these are reserved for use in Allienware. They also have issue that my laptop has 1tb hard drive. Both the Alienware M15 R4 and Alienware M15 R5 can meet the specification of my previous machine yet dell will not offer them as a replacement. These machines come in at around £1750 mark and I can't help but feel that Dell will not offer the comparable spec because of the rise in costs that have occured over the past year.
To top it all off, over the past month, I have been promised several times to have communication via email or phone calls made to discuss the issues for them not to happen.

Thank you! We have received the required details. All system exchanges stay within the originally purchased product line.

The best you'll get is a refund at this point -- no, they're not going to replace an Inspiron (G-series) with an Alienware system.

The Alienware systems are currently in a similar price bracket to what I would have laid for my G series last year if I hadn't had discount codes applied.
Would also say that they G Series now no longer go to similar specifications to that of of my laptop and are much lower with only the Alienware range having comparable specs.
