How long will my computer be in production?

Question

I ordered my  Alienware 17 laptop over 2 weeks ago and it is still in production how long dose this  process usually take? I got one upgrade on I updated 8 GB Ram to 16 GB thanks in advance

Thanks for posting on the Forum.

It normally takes 7-10 business days to build a computer. They are built in China and sent to the USA for boxing and shipping to the customer. Delivery times are in addition to that.

Your estimated delivery date is just that, an estimated date, that is calculated based on three factors:

Production/Packing time - This is the time that it will take to assemble and/or pack your order for shipment. The length of time is influenced by the production build time and/or product availability.
Payment method - The amount of time it takes for authorization of the payment is different for different forms of payment such as Credit Cards, Pay Pal, and Dell Preferred Account.
Shipping Option chosen at the time of purchase - The Shipping option is the amount of time it will take for your order to arrive at your address AFTER it has shipped.

That was once true, but isn't now. If you've a notebook system on order for North America, it will ship directly from the assembly line in China. Desktop systems are built in China or Mexico for most of the world, though there is an assembly plant in India for that market.

Hi Robert,

I am new here and was hoping to get some information on a Alienware R12 that I ordered. It was listed as shipped 2 days ago and shows that it would be delivered by the end of the day today. FedEx reports that they haven't gotten the package from Dell yet. Do you have the ability find out if this is still being shipped from China or how long the delivery might take to get to the US? I was trying to figure out how to private MSG you, but I can't find the option here.

Mine is STUCK.. I got an email saying:MESSAGE FROM DELL:    12/30 | This is a Direct Ship ready to shuttle bypassing our US merge center with a transit time of up to 10-15 days until it arrives at the US courier depot. The tracking on this order will not be available until it is scanned by the courier. GOV will be updated within the next 1 to 2 business days. ---------------->  I hate this because it offers NO REAL Information. If I order from AMAZON, I know exactly when Im getting it.... PLEASE FILL ME IN... I want and need more exact details because this is really crazy... I went and bought the SURFACE PRO 8 because I need a PC and have no idea where my DELL is and when it is actually going to arrive..
