Inspiron 15 5501, casing cracking, chassis separating

Hello Dell Community / Dell Customer Care Team,
I am posting here to formally request assistance with a manufacturing defect on my Dell Inspiron 15 ICL 5000 Series 5501.
PRODUCT DETAILS:
Model: Dell Inspiron 15 ICL 5000 Series 5501
Order Date: 21 September 2020
1 year warranty expired: September 22, 2021
Purchase Price: £819.00 (inc. VAT)
--- THE ISSUE ---
The rear casing and lid of the laptop has cracked, fragmented, and is now shedding residue and debris with every use. In addition, the bottom casing is now physically separating from the chassis, with multiple plastic retaining clips completely snapped. The structural failure is not limited to the rear lid — it extends across the entire unit.
This is happening as a direct result of the laptop being opened and closed under normal, everyday use. The laptop has never been dropped, knocked, or mishandled in any way. It has been stored in a protective case at all times.
The damage is progressive and worsens with each use, meaning I can no longer safely travel with or transport the laptop — completely undermining its purpose as a portable device.
--- THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT ---
I have researched this thoroughly and found multiple threads on this very forum documenting the same issue across the Inspiron 15 5000 series. The failure pattern has been attributed to the hinge design placing excessive stress on the plastic casing, causing it to crack and separate under normal use. This is not accidental damage or wear and tear — it is a systemic manufacturing fault.
--- MY POSITION ---
I have already sent a formal pre-action complaint letter to uki_customer_complaints@dell.com citing the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (Sections 9, 10 and 11) and the Limitation Act 1980. My purchase date of 21 September 2020 falls within the six-year statutory window. Dell has been given 14 days to respond.
I am requesting one of the following:
1. Full replacement laptop (equivalent or current-generation)
2. Free repair of the defective casing and chassis
3. A partial or full refund
I am not looking for a fight. I simply want Dell to stand behind a product that has failed due to a fault in its own manufacturing. Photographic evidence and all purchase documentation is available upon request.
I would appreciate a response from a Dell representative as soon as possible. Thank you.

While you're free to do as you wish, no one is going to offer free repair or replacement on a system that's closing in on six years old. The design life of a consumer notebook is three years - this one has exceeded that by almost a factor of two.
