OPU test failure
My XPS studio 9100 has a failed OPU test. When I ordered what I thought was a replacement ($95), the tech guy who came to replace it said that it was not an OPU, but a hard drive. I ordered the only other available thing on my replacement parts list, a cd dvd which has been backordered twice now. The disk drive in the 9100 does not work. How can I get some help with this! This XPS has been nothing but trouble since I bought it! Thanks for any help, please....

I am assuming that your warranty has lapsed? Correct?

Well what you were told is basically what needs to be done.
But the part, then find a tech to put it in.

Yes, I understand that it needs to be done, but the part that was sent is not the part that goes in the slot, but it is what Dell sent me? I have a tech to put it in, unless it's the hard drive that he says it is and he said there's a lot more to replacing that than just installing an OPU....

You have to have the correct part before you start.
You need to call Dell and request that they send you a RMA label and the correct part to begin with.
Or, you can fill this form out, this will escalate this issue, you should hear back from Dell in a few days.
