Scammers using Dell Support name to get in my computer

Question

I have Dell Support plus for my computer. Back in August 2017 I received a call and the caller identified himself as a Dell Support Technician. He said Dell could not see my computer and they found out that my computer IP had been used to promote a website they could not see unless they took control of my computer. Yes I let them get in my computer. Fortunately for me I do not keep my financial info stored in my computer, but I had one credit card I had purchase on line and they got hold of that one.

The scammer convinced me of purchasing a computer program $400.00 and those $400.00 I lost because I purchased iTunes gift cards and gave them the numbers.

I called the FBI to report the scam for which I let the scammers get in my computer, and then the FBI told me that that was an scam. Incredible!!

I called Dell support and they check my computer and let it clean again. I gave Dell a new telephone number to contact me, as a matter of facts that telephone is not on my name or has a name similar to mine . No body else has that number because I do not use it, no one uses it, I do not remember the number assigned to it.

Yesterday that phone rung and the person identified himself as a technician from Dell Support and said the same thing, Dell can not see your computer. I laughed and said that is good, I'll call you back, and I called Dell and made the complainant. This person had my name, my computer's Service Tag number, and the telephone number that only Dell Support has. How can I explain that?

At this moment I truly believe that the problem is withing Dell Support Department. There is somebody doing the wrong thing. The number from where I was called yesterday 737-618-6958 and this is what I found in Google

7376186958 Caller ID, Austin TX white pages, 7376186958 reverse lookup, Austin TX yellow pages,7376186950 real time directory assistance for telephone numbers 7376186966

This is no good for business. I just do not know who to believe.

These scams won't go away until those contacted cease to fall for them -- simple as that. Doesn't matter if it's someone claiming to be from Dell - or the Internal Revenue Service, or the Jury Administrator in your county - they're all fake, and they all need to be ignored completely.

ANY cold call from ANYWHERE should either not be answered, or should be hung up on immediately.

Why to have phones then?

Scammers are all over the place impersonating IRS, FPL, FEMA, DELL, and more companies and more agencies, scammers is a cancer that grows as technology improves and as long as our phone numbers and information is out there. Unfortunately my phone is a business phone and have to be out there.

We need an Scammer program to scam the scammers. Any body out therefor the challenge?

1) there is a very slim chance (close to non-existent) that Dell will call and tell you that your computer is misbehaving. Dell's support technicians don't have time to do that, except in cases where the end-user initiates the support inquiry/case.

2) most of the phone #s, not all, from which these calls originate are unassigned. that means if you get lucky enough to speak to one of the goons on the other end, and then try to call back later, you'll hear a recording that the call can't be completed. i've gotten a call from an 800 number that is assigned to Dell, but the folks who place the calls DON'T WORK FOR DELL and are not calling from Dell. They're fakes.

Again, Dell is NOT going to call you and tell you that your IP address, or your computer security has been compromised. Long and short, they have NO WAY OF KNOWING that information.

This has been happening since late 2015 early 2016. Dell has an internal problem, either their data has been compromised (hacked) from someone on the outside the company, or they have an internal leak. someone who works for dell or a 3rd party call center contracted by Dell.

Dell also have claimed they have an internal team working on since late 2015/early 2016. What they have not done properly is let their customers know what is going on and just respond when people ask them with this kind of BS--> "Unfortunately, technology phone scams have become prevalent across our industry". How do you trust a company like this? They have a serious issue, customers are being scammed and they know it, but my guess they feel some of their customers getting scammed is cheaper then addressing the problem and informing those customers that they are having problems keeping their information safe.

Again, how do you trust a company like this?
