Shipping issue/delay

My order shipped early on September 3, 2021 however it has been 18 days since. My order still has not been delivered and the tracking for it is unchanged. It is still in pending status for estimated delivery status and only the shipment label has been created. It seems like FedEx has not received the package throughout the time it has shipped. I have contacted Dell multiple times already and twice have been told to wait 7 to 10 business days for the package, twice to to wait 24 to 48 hours for an update, and twice in which they have told me they sent a request to logistics to look into into it. I still have not gotten contact at all about it and they have not told me the reasons for the delay either. I keep getting the same responses back and they keep having me wait more. I just want to know where exactly my package is and have it delivered as soon as possible. Its been too long since the laptop shipped and I have paid $2000.

I'm glad I'm not alone. I'm experiencing the same problem. My Alienware tower finished production last week. They sent me tracking last Friday sept 17th. But it has not been delivered? Fedex tracking just says the label has been created. But no movement? I do have a Service ticket in. I"m not sure why they print the label if the machine is not ready to ship? I'm guessing it's in transit from their Mexico plant?

They have told me to wait 7 to 10 business days since its coming from another country twice. But still no package or update to the tracking...

I first contacted about this issue to dell well over a week ago in which they said they have sent a request to logistic and that this issue will be resolved soon. I didnt get an update back and I kept contacting Dell but I got the same responses and no actual update.

Same situation here. It's ridiculous. They should be paying us interest on these thousands of dollars we're loaning them while we wait on the consequences of their poor shipping decisions.

Wouldn't surprise me if this is really production delays. They just printed the shipping early so they could charge us early. Scam.

Yes it is ridiculous. I ended up canceling my order in the end because of the delays. I have waited about 3 weeks only for Dell to tell me my order was lost in transit.

Same here. I got charged on my credit card and it has been weeks and still unknown when I will receive it. I feel giving up to contact Dell Support as they will tell me the same things and no estimated date can be provided.

Another thing is the warranty starts on the date that the laptop is shipped, which I am yet to receive the laptop. So do I lose portion of the warranty period?

I understand that unexpected shipping situation can happen. However, I just want to know a new estimated date so I can make alternate plan. It is frustrating when there is no answer from Dell Support and it just makes customers wait.

There is no real support being given on this issue. There's no competent logistics team looking into this matter. There can't be. How can days go by and you have no ability to figure out why there's a delay or how long the delay will be? They have no idea what is going on. Our packages are essentially lost, but they will not admit that because then they would have to begin the process of shipping replacements. They would rather string us along as long as possible in the hopes that are packages magically reappear in the tracking system. Not a cool strategy when we're all out thousands of dollars with nothing to show for it.

And good point about the warranty period. We are getting hosed so many different ways on this. It's crazy.

Was thinking the same. At this point it may be quicker to just cancel and reorder. Since it seems Dell will NEVER admit these packages have been unreasonably delayed or lost.

Take a quick look at the reports of the numbers of large container ships that are stranded off the shores of California at the moment.  It's very likely that if you have an order that's in transit from China to the US, it may well be on one of them.

The types of container ships waiting in line at port have typical transit times of over 18 days under the BEST conditions (between USA and Asia). In the beginning of this delay we were told by Dell that it is extremely abnormal for the transit between Asia and the USA to take longer than 10 business days. This leaves 2 options:

1. These packages are being shipped via air instead of sea. In which case, we deserve an explanation as to why it is taking so much longer than usual.

2. These packages are being shipped via sea, but Dell is making a guess as to when the packages are no more than 10 business days away from the USA so as to know when to charge us and declare the item shipped. I lean towards this option being true, as my fedex tracking says the label was printed August 30th (even though they never declared it shipped until september 7th). This puts their 10 business day deadline in-line with the typical 20 day asia-usa transit time by sea. It's unfair to be forced into giving Dell a longer interest free loan because they guessed incorrectly on how long shipping would take.

We deserve to know exactly why the shipping is delayed. Is it delayed because the container ship is at port and waiting to dock? Tell us that. How many ships are ahead of it in line? What is the estimated docking date? If you cannot obtain this type of information, then don't pretend you have a competent logistics team helping to figure this out. Nobody at Dell cares. They're just waiting and hoping the tracking updates before people get angry enough that they are forced to begin shipping replacements.

They're not going to get a container ship docked sooner because of a few hundred laptop order complaints. If it's delayed long enough, then Dell will eventually be forced to ship replacements. Until then, they will attempt to placate us with lies.

The issue is that with the ships being piled up, there is no longer a schedule to refer to -- meaning it's anyone's guess when the notebooks will arrive at a Dell logistics site.

It's after that the shipping information and time schedule becomes available.

Would be nice to actually hear if this is what's going on from Dell, rather than speculation from a random message board user.

Try ordering a new car these days - the wait time is indefinite, but it'll be 2022 before you see it arrive.  Do the same for a piece of furniture -- same issue.  Or for that matter, try buying something as prosaic as a washing machine or a refrigerator.  Some automakers even have tens of thousands of already built vehicles stranded in massive parking lots near the assembly plants - awaiting the indefinite time when the components to build the missing parts arrive.

You can find some in stock, but if you're looking for a specific model (particularly a more basic model), it's order and wait.

Between component shortages, factory production pauses, and shipping issues, anything you order these days can take far longer than you might anticipate.

If you need a system in short order, it's the same as it would be for the car, washer, or sofa -- you buy what's in stock with a retailer and compromise on getting exactly what you want (and waiting as a result).

Experiencing the same issue with the S3422DWG gaming monitor. Marked as shipped 6 days ago and tracking still says UPS is awaiting for item. Opened a case and have yet to receive a response 3 days later. Oddly enough, Dell is still selling this monitor with a promised arrival date of 9/28...
