Hi Guys.

It's good to have a forum to DataDomain.

We Have a customer with DD4500 and DDOS 5.4 is working without problem, using VTL level NW, Oracle and DB2 client.
backup using ddboost with 10 GB not work as expected, I hope to start a question later.

Give my regards from Mexico.

Finally!

About 5.4.x ... only bug so far spotted (in production) is that Low Bandwidth Optimization in Replication caused DDFS to restart -> current solution is to disable it.

how would one determine by looking at "system show performance" what streams are generated by DDBoost ?  Regarding that command, does anyone know how to limit output to specific fields ..as it is it starts wrapping in my ssh client (have to scratch onto second monitor see all column aligned.)

Hi Dynamox,

You can also use the command "iostat 2" to view performance information.   I tend to get better results in putty with that command.  However, the stream counts aren't shown.

There isn't a column in system show performance that specifically shows DDBoost streams.  Our Stream Count FAQ KB can provide more information.

I agree - long awaited indeed.  I noticed that here too (as in NetWorker and most likely other forums as well), documents are created which are essentially copies of KB articles.  I really do not see the point of that as they will create alerts about new content (which is not that new) and they can be found in KB already.

As for 5.4, I do not dare to touch (yet) 5.4 - too low with GA releases. I'm on 5.2.2.4 and will go in mid January to 5.2.4.2.

PatrickBetts, I checked the link you posted (Count FAQ KB), but links for DDOS 5.3 and 5.4 are giving me permission denied (while others work just fine).

Hrvoje,

I'm sorry to hear you are having an issue with the document I linked.  Could you email me directly ( patrick.betts@emc.com ) so I can verify your Powerlink account status and make sure that and other documents are fully available to you?

Thanks Jose, we might have to upgrade our DD890 to 5.4 to support integration with Avamar 7.

Dynamox,

Thank you.  Now I understand what you mean.  That is odd as the documents are listed as "Public".  If you provide me with the email address you use for the portal (you may email me directly), I can masquerade as you and see what the issue is.

Dynamox,

Avamar 7 does require DDOS 5.4 for compatibility.  You can see the other requirements here:

yeah, i saw that ..not sure how i feel about that, never been a shop to be on the bleeding edge but with Avamar 7 may not have a choice.

Thanks.  I emailed you my username anyway since user I use for work is different from the one I use for ECN activities.

Dynamox, I'm not sure I understand which documents you cannot see.  If by "5.3 and 5.4" documents you mean the release notes and documentation, that is different than the link I provided.  As I stated, please email me directly and I will masquerade as you on the Portal site to see what the issue is.

links to 5.3 and 5.4 in the URL you provided
