Inspiron 16 Plus 7620, hardware reliability
Dell products, like most other products these days, are no longer made to last. I've been purchasing Dell computer equipment for years and still have laptops from 20 years ago that still work. But my latest laptop had a fault upon purchase, and now, three years later, for no reason, the motherboard died. Dell's response is that this is a frequent issue they see sometimes if the laptop is unused for a few weeks, the motherboard might die. But the end consumer is the one expected to pay to have this manufacturing defect repaired! No more Dell products for me clearly they no longer stand by their products, if a laptop that sees a few hours use each week over 3 years cant be turned off for more than a few weeks without dieing thats just ridiculous.

If anyone has a remedy to this issue please let me know.
So far have tried powering from standard dell plug pack, this is showing a light so power is supplied and light does not go out. Using the dell dock to power from USB-C does the same, the light comes on and its reconised as connected and providing power but no charging of battery occurs. When pressing the power button the orange power light turns on but follows the press, so holding the light turns on orange, letting go of the button it goes out. Have tried disconnecting the battery internally, holding power button for 60+ seconds to drain any remaining charge in the board and re-connecting, no change. No change when battery is disconnected and AC only is connected, still refuses to startup however with this model it may be the battery is required as there is no longer a seperate CMOS battery and the main battery provides this power.
This laptop hasnt seen a lot of use, roughly 3.5 years old but has been well kept, typical usage over the years has been roughly a few hours per week. The issue presented itself when the laptop was unused for 3 weeks, I pulled it out of the laptop case and tried powering on with no luck, proceeded to connect the AC adpater to allow it to charge but still no powering on. Left it connected for a few hours then tried again and no luck powering it up.
At a bit of a loss here, I would expect the laptop would last much longer, I have 2 other dell laptops with similar use and they have lasted well over 3.5 years and are still going. If anyone else is experiencing these types of issues please reach out, seems this is a common occurance from what I can see online.

If you haven't done so yet, unplug the system and remove the base cover. Disconnect the battery from the mainboard and hold the power button for 30 sec. Reassemble the system and see if it will then power up (it will cycle through a couple of boot sequences before it does boot).

@ejn63 Thanks, I have tried that. Also did it for much longer than 30 sec with no success.
