Yes, you should be able to receive SNMPv3 from devices using OMEnt. OMEnt can receive SNMPv3, but it currently only supports trap forwarding of SNMPv1 and SNMPv2. Check under Incoming Alerts in the Application Settings.

The OMEnt support page should have a support matrix document.

I am running Dell OME 3.2.1 and am having the exact same issue.  Enabled SNMPv3 in OME, but only seeing V1 and V2 in the discovery options for my SAN, which is configured to support SNMPv3 only.

Still running into the same problem on OME 3.5.0.

Manage incoming alerts
NOTE: To perform any tasks on OpenManage Enterprise, you must have necessary user privileges. See Role-based
OpenManage Enterprise user privileges on page 14.
By clicking OpenManage Enterprise > Application Settings > Incoming Alerts, you can define the properties of the user
who receives incoming alerts by using SNMPv3 protocol. You can also set the TrapForward properties.
● To set the SNMP credentials for incoming alerts:
1. Select the SNMPV3 Enable check box.
2. Click Credentials.
3. In the SNMP Credentials dialog box:
a. In the User Name box, enter the login ID of the user who manages the OpenManage Enterprise settings.
b. From the Authentication Type drop-down menu, select either the SHA or MD_5 algorithm as the authentication type.
c. In the Authentication Passphrase box, enter the passphrase pertaining to SHA or MD_5 based on your selection.
d. From the Privacy Type drop-down menu, select either DES or AES_128 as your encryption standard.
e. In the Privacy Passphrase box, enter the passphrase based on your privacy type.
f. Click Save.
4. In the Community box, enter the community string to receive the SNMP traps.
5. By default, the SNMP port number for the incoming traps is 161. Edit to change the port number.
6. Click Apply.
The SNMP credentials and settings are saved.
7. To reset the settings to default attributes, click Discard.
NOTE: If SNMPv3 alert settings are configured before upgrading the appliance, you have to reconfigure the settings by
providing the username, authentication passphrase, and privacy passphrase to continue receiving the alerts. If the issues
persists, restart the services using the Text User Interface (TUI).
● To apply the TrapForward settings:
1. Expand TrapForward Settings.
○ To forward the trap, select AS_IS.
○ To forward the normalized trap, select Normalized.
2. Click Apply.
3. To reset the settings to default attributes, click Discard.

unfortunately it's not supported even currently on OME 3.7.x

with SNMPv3 you'll be able to "listen" for traps however you won't be able to add in devices to OME. Only snmp v1 and 2 supported at this time.

It's really frustrating this isn't implemented considering it was available in openmanage essentials!

I put in a feature request but not sure if anything will happen there...did I mention disappointing??

Apologies for the disappointment. Allow me to check that, if the next newer version would have the feature or the current version have issues on SNMPv3.

Though, can you let me know if there is any error that you have encountered when using SNMPv3 to discover devices (switch and storage devices) in OMEnt 3.7?

Meanwhile, I value your and the public's voice. I'll put it up in my case for the engineering to pick up the feedback, but I can't promise that the feature will be up in the next update, but it's worth while for me to get it to the engineer on customer's voice.

The latest version of OpenManage Enteprise still only supports just v1/v2 for discovery.

Unfortunately not, is it somewhere on the roadmap ? 

I would also like to know when SNMPv3 discovery is going to be enabled for PowerEdge servers in OME. We moved away from SNMP 1/2 and the server polling using AD credentials is extremely buggy. We have over 150+ PE servers reporting to OME 3.9.0 and we have to restart iDRAC interfaces on a weekly basis because they stop reporting. I think it is more of an iDRAC issue but it is quite frustrating. We are hoping this goes away with SNMP monitoring (vs AD authentication)

We now run OM 3.9 and this is *still* an issue. It's "little" things like this that makes a bad impression, honestly. No one should use SNMP without v3 anymore nowadays.

Guess I have to escalate that even further with Dell.
