Cannot download baseline

The baseline is not refreshing from the dell size. I have checked that

downloads.dell.com/catalog/catalog.gz works from other servers.

Unable to download the catalog file. Make sure that the remote repository is available, also if a certificate was used in the request, then make sure is valid.
Task Failed. Completed With Errors.

I have a work around by setting up a nfs server.
This started failing on multiple openmanage servers
Could something be wrong on the Dell side?
Could you provide way to diagnose further and debug this?
This is happening on multiple opensearch boxes
Version 4.4.0 (Build 75)
Version 3.10.2 (Build 13)

Hello, it appears that the firmware catalog cannot be downloaded from the Dell online portal,

Or are you trying to download the catalog/firmware DUPs from the internal OME share into the servers?

Typically, the catalog gets downloaded from Dell Online into the internal OME share, and the servers will download the catalog + firmware DUPs from the share to be applied.

From our lab within, catalog download is successful from Dell Online

We tried pushing the OS Driver Pack to my R760xd2 server and the package was successfully downloaded.

Customers can perform a test to the Dell Online site (downloads.dell.com) under the Troubleshooting menu

Monitor > Troubleshoot > Appliance > Test Appliance Connection > select Dell Online from the dropdown

Ensure that port 443 is allowed in the firewall between OME and the Dell downloads portal.

Refer to Pages 23 to 26 of the OpenManage Enterprise 4.4 User's Guide on the Network Port Requirements and Firewall Exceptions.

Please also make a note of the following:-

If you prefer a working session to investigate further, I suggest you raise an official ticket with the support teams in your respective region.

Respectfully,

Hello,

I have no issues downloading, most likely related to your network config, I'm thinking.

You can see from my screenshot.

@DELL-Young E

Hello,

I have the same problem. I found that I can't create new repository with the latest catalog version. If I try it, then no baseline for this repository is created. The problem starts after update to catalog version 25.03.31. So I tried to create repository with older catalog 25.03.24 and baseline was created. So I think there could be a problem with newer catalogs. In this catalogs is weird iDrac versioning (Name: iDRAC 7.20.10.05, Version: 7.20.10.50)

Best regards

Martin

@DELL-Young E Downloads work fine, Its the OpenManage server that cannot download the updates. I put other servers on the same vlan and they can download the dell updates fine. Is there a way to log into the openmanage server and do some diagnostics?

@DELL-Young E

Hello,

I tried connection to dell online before I wrote the post. Now I tried again, here is result:

I can download catalog and DUP, because I can create repository in catalog version 25.03.24. And we use a baseline without update management plugin repository. And it updates well.

Here is screenshot of bad repository:

And here is screenshot of catalog that works well:

Best regards

Martin

Upon further investigation a network team member had put in filtering rules, on the specific VLAN we are using, on the network without notifying anyone.
Thank you for the extended diagnostics. Our problem is solved.

Hi,

It really looks like this is another case where the problem isn’t on your side at all. When OME suddenly can’t download baselines but your firewall hasn’t changed and downloads.dell.com is reachable the root cause is usually a Dell Online catalog or certificate issue, not anything with your appliance or network. This lines up with previous incidents where multiple users lost baseline download capability at the same time despite unchanged environments.
A few things you can do

  • Check external access to catalog.gz just to confirm it’s reachable.
  • Use a local repository temporarily if you need to keep updates moving. (Others have used NFS/SMB as a workaround.)

  • Run the OME test under Monitor → Troubleshoot → Appliance → Test Connection to see when Dell Online starts responding normally again.
  • If it’s still failing after a day or so, it’s worth opening a Dell Support ticket. they can confirm whether the backend catalog or certs were changed

Hope that helps!

@DELL-Erman O thanks for comming back to us, when run troubleshooting it fails to connect to Dell Online with the error mentioned previously, yes we can access repository directly via webbrowser download the catalog.xml and have temorarly applied the local way, which workrs Created Dell request, awaiting response.
