Firmware Catalog

Version 1.0.0 (Build 543)

When creating a firmware catalog using the "Latest component firmware versions on Dell.com", the error message below is displayed:

Error occurred while downloading catalog

Repository creation failed. Please provide valid credentials and/or repository path.
Task Failed. Execution has completed

The audit log also states:  Unable to retrieve appliance update information.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello

Check your catalog path. Try using either of these:

downloads.dell.com/catalog/
ftp.dell.com/catalog/

If you still encounter issues then try opening those pages in a browser from the system to see if you can access them.

Thanks

Thanks for the post.  Can you confirm you have access to the internet from the Enterprise appliance?  Only thing I can think of is to check the proxy settings (if you need them) in the Application Settings.

Thanks,

Rob

Hi Rob,

We do use a proxy server and I've verified the settings with another Dell tool (RepoMgr), but OME doesn't confirm connectivity to the Internet.

How would I be able to verify connectivity through the appliance?

I have the same issue. there is no way to make sure the port is open FROM the appliance. I can't TELNET or PING from the appliance, there is no command prompt. Any assistance will be appreciate it!

Hi,

You can try running nmap tool on the appliance IP for that specific port to check if that port is open or not. Currently, i don't think there is way to show the open ports from appliance.

reposting from another thread for visibility. This is not a network issue, or if it is, it is completely new, as I had used a previous version of OME and it worked perfectly.

I am getting the exact same issue, I found this worked perfectly on the previous version of OME but is now failing. Also discovered that when trying to deploy firmware to blades on the old OME, there was a port 892 required but this was never mentioned in the documentation. Had to run firewall traces to get this information. I have opened a support case about this, the funny thing is that I can download catalogs on another instance of Dell OME at a different site using the OVF template. It is using the exact same proxy info but on another site (that was working on the previous OME version) it is failing now all of a sudden after the upgrade. Same issue at 77%.

Yup, I have the same issue that the catalog downloads till 75% and then shows up with error, I wish there is some trace logs to figure out what is going on.

Hi there,

There was an issue with downloads.dell.com last week but I believe it’s been resolved.

Let me know if that is the case.

Thanks,

Rob

I am trying local network share from the Dell Repositry manager export, regardless of Http, NFS ......it always goes till 75% appx and comes up with this error, I really wish it was able to capture some trace logs on what caused the fail, that would address lot of folks issues

There was an intermittent issue with the downloads.dell.com site last week. If you are still seeing this error, it would be better to open a support ticket so it can be investigated further.

Okay, observation...was poking around a bit and found the progress bar to 75% and above happened even to the Local interanet portal where I hosted the Dell repositry and pointed the catalog.xml

Funny thing is, cataloge addition progress to 75 or 78% even if the IIS service is not running, but it does throw error  immediately if there is a different IP or method provided, wish it captured some information in the log to track them down

In my case error "Repository creation failed. Please provide valid credentials and/or repository path" after 79% was due to incorrect NFS path, which didn't include the catalog file:

"/data/repo/dell/drm/r640_r740_fw_allos"

instead of

"/data/repo/dell/drm/r640_r740_fw_allos/R640_740_fw_all_os_1.01_Catalog.xml"

And one more moment:

if you create repository in DRM with packages only for Linux OS, OME will successfully create catalog and baseline, but they'll be empty and servers with outdated firmware will be shown as already compliant.
