Installing PowerEdge drivers for Windows Server

This is hopefully a dumb question - but what is the preferred procedure for installing the required drivers inside the OS (Windows Server) on a new poweredge?

I have Windows installed, and device manager is showing lots of devices that need drivers. On a desktop I'd just run Dell Command Update but there doesn't seem to be an equivalent for Windows Server.

I have the iDRAC service module installed, and an Openmanage Enterprise server that I've used to verify the system's firmware is all up to date - but I can't figure out if you can update drivers inside the OS via OME.

What is the proper way of doing this?

Many thanks!

I believe so, you can follow the guide here to do the OS updates with OME.

Kingtrw,

There are different options depending on the server you are updating. For example, if it is a 13th generation server or newer then you can just run the Server Update Utility, found on the support page of the specific server. If it is older than a 13th generation you would still need the Server Update Utility, but due to the older servers being dropped from the catalog update file, you would also need Repository Manager to create the ISO to update from, which also can be found on the support site under the specific server.

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks, I will try that.

It it possible to manage OS drivers via OpenManage Enterprise? The documentation I've seen implies that it should be, but I can't find any useful guide to how to implement this. I have added the iDrac interface to OME and installed the Idrac Service Module into the OS, but that doesn't provide vibility of the OS drivers.

I then tried installing OMSA onto the server, and adding the server to OME as a Windows server (after having to install OpenSSH onto the server) but that just adds another instance of the iDrac interface - so not helpful.

Thanks, I think I'll open a new question regarding the behavior of adding both windows and idrac devices in OME.
