ome 3.4.0 (build 55) firmware patching issue
Hi ,
OME is having a problem remediating fw on a
PowerEdge R730xd and Broadcom 57414S 25gb NIC card. Its currently at 21.40.20.00 at trying to go to
21.40.25.31.
I get this error in OME : -
Running
Starting communication with the device.
Checking LC-Service state
Checking Remote Services availability
Remote Service is ready.
Initiated Update Job for DCIM:INSTALLED#701__NIC.Slot.4-2-1 with JobId (JID_942244001418)
Job status for JID_942244001418 is Failed
Message: USC version is not compatible.
Message ID: RED011
Deleting the job queue
The device will update if i use the same driver from a DRM built smart update iso.
Any ideas?

This was due to an incompatible card for the type of server. Dell replaced the cards as a good will measure.

Hi,
That would be strange. Could let me know how was the update done in OME? By the way, are you updating the driver or firmware? Are you updating the OME host or on another server?

Hi,
Above error message RED011 I reviewed that issue and it could be the USC version is old. https://dell.to/2Zh6U9O recommended action is update USC
I guess 13G servers do not have separate USC update package. Could you check latest iDRAC and LCC FW 2.75.75.75 update from here please https://dell.to/38KjMIS

Hi,
I assume that your servers are in production so I do not recommend the power drain method at this stage. However, performing iDRAC soft reset does not affect the operation of the servers. Can you try soft reset the iDRAC of the relevant servers? via link https://dell.to/3iOaBvB
If it still the same issue continue you can try to use this file firmimg.d7 for iDRAC update; extract file "firmimg.d7" from "iDRAC_2.75.75.75_A00"
Meanwhile, What is your current iDRAC and BIOS FW version? If your BIOS version is not up to date, it may be necessary to update it as well.

thats how i updated the lifecycle controller anyway, using the d7 file.
Interestingly , although OME gave me the error when I've booted into lifecycle controller i've seen that the broadcom was indeed updated.
I'm going to try the process again on another server.

@IJM001 Do you solve your error? I have the same error on a 730xd.
The R730xd is updated to the latest iDRAC and BIOS.
This error comes an a update of two network devices:
22.00.6
I have reset the iDRAC but the error still persist. What can i do? Do you have any recommendations?
Thank´s for your help!

Hi, can you try clearing the lifecycle controller job queue and restarting the iDRAC itself?

I have deleted the lifecycle controller job queue and soft resetted from the iDRAC itself.
The error is still the same when i want to update the network cards in the iDRAC itself:
RED011: USC version is not compatible.

I couldn't find what could be the root of Unified server configurator error. When you can get downtime on the server, other than iDRAC, can you try other installing methods, for example, installing from within the lifecycle controller?
1. Copy the downloaded firmware DUP for Windows to removable USB storage.
2. Insert the removable USB storage in a USB port of the server to be updated.
3. Reboot the server.
4. Press the F10 key to enter Lifecycle Controller.
5. In the left navigation pane, click Firmware Update.
6. In the main pane click Launch Firmware Update.
7. On the Step 1 of 3: Select Update Repository page, select Local Drive.
8. Click the Next button.
9. On the Step 2 of 3: Enter Access Details page, select the removable USB storage from the Local Drive drop-down list.
10. Type the path and filename of the firmware DUP in the File Path or Update Package Path text box.
Example: \.exe
11. Click the Next button.
12. On the Step 3 of 3: Select Updates page, select the checkbox next to one, or more, of the Available System Updates.
13. Click the Apply button to complete the installation process.
or try to install in operating system.

I have tested the installation in the Lifecycle Controller directly. But the error "USC Version not compatible" still persit´s
I have tested this in another R730 too. Any other solutions?
