Services plugin staging group
I've noticed that most of managed servers are going into the staging group in the Services plugin. The reason is "Services capabilites could not be verified for the device because the connectivity test is unsuccessful". I can't find any documentation on what the connectivity test involves. I can't find anything being blocked on my firewall between the OME appliance and the idracs. Can anyone can me more information?
Thanks,
Robert

Hello robwevans,
What OME version are you on?
Do you have any plugins that need update?

Staging group—Contains devices that were only discovered partially while you tried to add them because certain requirements were not met. Devices in this group are automatically moved to the Default group when you revalidate them after the requirements to monitor are fulfilled.
To identify the reason why it cannot monitor a staging device, go to the Site Health page and click Staging Devices pane. A list displays the reason and remediation to resolve the issue with the staging devices.
There are built in tools that can help you troubleshoot. Try Test appliance connectivity and other options available:

Charles,
I'm on version 3.9.0. As stated in my post the reason is "Services capabilities could not be verified for the device because the connectivity test is unsuccessfule". The very helpful remediation is "For optimal Services capability, ensure that connectivity to the device is successful". The devices are all managed with alerts in OME. I finally found some documentation for the Services plugin that states for connectivity it requires OMSA be installed but I've checked devices that are managed in the services plugin and they do not have OMSA installed plus I thought one of the advantages or moving from OMEssentials to OMEnterprise was that OMSA would not be needed any more. I've also installed the iSM plugin and registered SupportAssist on the iDrac.

All plugins are up-to-date according to OME. Services plugin is version 2.0.0.607.

Hello robwevans,
A few follow up questions for you:
1) Do these devices have the minimum warranty and iDRAC license for Services plugin?
2) Can OME do some of the tasks on the Devices pane like RACADM CLI? If not then they may not be onboarded
3) What kind of devices are they, and if they are iDRACs what firmware?

1. All the devices have iDrac9, iDrac9 Enterprise and OpenManage Enterprise Advanced licenses and are less than a year old with warranty.
2. Yes, All of the devices are onboarded in OME and I can and do run racadm cli commands on the devices from the OME console.
3. All are R640's and the firmware has been updated, through OME, to 6.00.00 on all devices.
This may be a firewall issue but since I can't find how the plugin verifies connectivity to the device I don't know what to look for.

Hello robwevans,
Thank you. A couple things you can try:
Try roll back one of the DRAC to see if it helps.
iDRAC 5.10.30.00 : https://dell.to/3RKJWBs
In a rare scenario, after upgrading to a latest Services plug-in release, the connectivity to the backend fails, and you cannot proceed with the registration.
Try a Uninstall and reinstall the Services plug-in.
If neither help you may consider calling in to Support and work with an engineer that can do a remote session with you to get a look.

Charles,
I have 75 devices that are managed so I don't think its a problem with connectivity to the backend. I've rolled back one of idracs and that didn't work either.

Hi @robwevans,
Have you tried restarting OME appliance?
We'd recommend considering calling to support to check the issue via remote session.

Dear @robwevans
Did you find solution?
I have the same issue - few servers stuck in "staging" group.
