Update Management Repository Not Loading to Create Repository Version 3.9.0.55

I'm having issues creating a repository using the update management (version - 1.3 | build - 1.3.0.288) plugin. When clicking the 'Create Repository' button the page just hangs with a wheel of death saying 'Please wait'.

All services are active and every other page loads without issue. I've tried on multiple hosts and web browsers all with the same results

The instance was loaded off the provided .ova and has been deleted and rebuilt twice with the plugin disabled/remove/reinstalled/enabled multiple times. The host is a vm running on esxi 7+

There doesn't appear to be a lot of verbose troubleshooting options to dig into why it won't load

Hi, thanks for choosing Dell. If we are talking about Dell EMC Repository Manager

No, we're talking about the Update Management plugin for Open Manage Enterprise: https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-hr/000180518/update-manager-plugin-ump

Not sure why but it looks like it's trying to use a proxy, that isn't configured or used, and it's causing it to timeout.

For testing, I set the Update Management proxy to loopback, and the page loads but I get an error saying it can't find the catalog. Even with the error, it appears to consistently load the page. Where can the proxy be 'hard' disabled? The Proxy configuration allows you to 'Enable' but even with this set correctly the Repository Manager is still looking for a proxy.

Hello @luhrs32tour,

I cannot recall an option to "hard" disable the proxy. As you mentioned, it cand only be enable/disable with the option in the configuration. If you check the OpenManage Enterprise settings for Update Manager https://dell.to/3SEObNU you can check on page 9 everything related to proxy settings.

I think either is a malfunction of the instance due to a bad installation/configuration or it is a network error. If you already tried to uninstall the plugin and already check the network configuration maybe the error is in the OMSA instance.

Regards.

Looking further, it isn't the proxy that's the issue. The plugin is trying to reach back to Dell first, when it can't connect it looks for a proxy that isn't configured, and after 5 minutes it times out. This is being deployed in an air-gapped network which explains the errors.

Is there a way to submit a bug report? Why have the option to use the SUU on an internal share if the plugin requires you to connect to Dell first?

Hi, While researching, I was looking at the release notes for OME update manager 1.3. Could you take a look at the known issues section, there are a few known issues and workarounds related to the repository, maybe it can help. https://dell.to/3TIuNkp and please ensure your privileges as administrator. (because device manager or viewer privileges could have limitations)

This seems to be the closest known issue:

But, ours has a small number of components. It's a new install with only one device of each server type. The workaround of continuously refreshing the page to get rid of the 'Please Wait' message does not address the issue since the next time you attempt to use UMP it does the same thing. We're only operating as the admin user since we've not joined it to AD.

Also, I have a workaround. This is a bug and seeing as the closest related know issue doesn't have an Issue ID I believe this should be submitted as a known issue to be addressed in follow on versions
