Dell ActiveXClientProgram.msi

Does anyone know where I can find a download for the Dell ActiveXClientProgram.msi?  I do not have it installed on my management server and it won't install.  I also do not have it on my workstation and it won't install because it says it cannot uninstall the older version (even though I cannot locate any version of it on my workstation!).

I truly dislike ActiveX!

Hey KBeau,

Yeah, ActiveX.... :)

We put a few of these in OME to allow to launching remote desktop, and a few tools that would otherwise be disallowed.

Some things to note:

ActiveX only works on Internet Explorer

The .CAB file packages up all the ActiveX msi files (there are two of them).

The .CAB file is located in IIS under /Web/Dell.OpenManage.ActiveXSetup.CAB. It can be downloaded from that location. Once downloaded, you can open the CAB folder in windows explorer and extract the two MSI files.

If it won’t install it’s possible security settings will block it from running once installed. It’s important to review the security settings in Internet Explorer to allow ActiveX programs to run.

Ideally, you just go into OME Preferences and hit the checkbox.  Then the active x control is installed for you.

Sure ok.

Remove both from “Programs and Features” and reinstall. The names of the programs are “ActiveX Client Program” and “ActiveX Controller”. The latest version is 5.3.0. If the current installed version is 5.3.0 (for both) then there is a problem loading the controls which is likely an Internet Explorer security setting.

Thx

Yeah, I have it checked in my Preferences but here's the thing.  When I try to install it when I'm prompted, I get a pop up that says it cannot remove an earlier version of ActiveX, then wants me to choose the location of the msi.  I give it the location and it says it is not available to me, like I don't have rights to it (on my own workstation).

Everything is now working on my management server.

I know I have submitted posts before regarding ActiveX Rob, and I apologize for bringing it up again.  I'm sure I can't be the only person that is constantly banging my head on a wall with regards to this!

Cheers,

Thanks Rob.  The problem is neither one of them show up under Programs and Features so I'm not sure why I am getting the message that there is an older version present that cannot be uninstalled.

I did one final search in my registry.  The first two times I looked at the Registry I searched for ActiveXClientProgram.  Never found anything.  This time I did a search on ActiveX Controller, viola, there it was!  Once I deleted the registry keys, I was able to get OME to install the product when I opened OME on my desktop!

Thanks for your help Rob!
