Dell OpenManage Essentials install on VMWare instance?
Can the OpenManage Essentials be installed on a VMWare instance as long as I meet all the hardware/software requirements. If it is 'possible' will I run into any known issues?
Thanks!

I wouldn't deploy this on anything other than a VM. I don't remember reading about it not being supported on a VM, but I never read the documentation on this.
I have this installed on an ESX 4.1 Vmware VM and have successfully inventoried many Windows and ESX 4.1 servers. I am able to get warranty information and service tags pulled in.
I am having issues with ESXi 4.1 servers, but I think that's an issue with the discovery process, not the fact it is installed on a VM.
We are in a world now where if you can't install this in a VM, I would question the application more than the system you are running it on ;)

Hi,
Thanks for your post. OME is supported to run in a VM as long as the recommended hardware and software specifications are met. Those are listed in the user guide/online help.
