Duplicate Name with Different IP Address after discover
Hello All,
About My Version Open Manage Essentials : 1.1.0.6063
My Issue : Duplicate Name with Different IP Address after discover, I check on Devices , both server not appear (Same after Restart Services or Refresh Gui).
For Example :
1° - First Server with IP : 10.129.5.1
2° - Second Server with IP 10.128.125.1
(I cannot update other Pics) But its a same result with another IP - Same Serveur Apparear with a Same Service TAG.
----------------
On Log I Read :
Device name change has been detected based on MAC Address xx.xx.xx.xx.xx.xx (Old name : Blabla, new name : Blabla, internal ID: -715174801)
Discovery is re-using the database entry for Device Blabla based on name only. Either discovery could not obtain MAC Address information for the device during a previous discovery or there two devices on the network with the same name.
The Maximum Applog Size was reached, and as result 50 events were purged.
----------------
My option : I suspect error about Database, have u idea ?
Thx so much for ur help

Hi Mika,
So just to be sure please do the following from your OME box:
1. ping -a 10.192.5.1
2. ping -a 10.128.125.1
be sure those resolve the FQDN properly.
Then from the .1 box do this: ping -a 10.n.n.n (substitute the ip of your OME box).
making sure your DNS is all ok here...
thanks,
Rob

Thx for reply, source issue was configuration..So..but...New issue detected after applied Update OME 1.2 & Patch 1.2.1
My Previous Action Plan :
1° - Update with OME 1.2 => Success
2° - Update with Patch OME 1.2.1 => Success
3° - Check Device => All is Ok !!
Now, Impossible to acces on Log Hardware / Discovery-Inventory failed / Impossible to delete Device on OME.
Error Message is :
DataService.StatusPolling() - Unable to start user requested status poll: Failed to establish connection with the Network Monitoring service.
On Event Log on Microsoft, I saw :
DSM Essentials Network Monitor : Failed to initialize databse
DSM Essentials Task Manager : Failed to initialize database
I check on Services Windows : Both is started
I read form and i found this article : http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/systems-management/f/4494/t/19522249.aspx
It is a same issue ?
Solution suggested :
http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/systems-management/f/4494/t/19522249.aspx
It seems that the patch installation changes the reg keys in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Dell Computer Corporation\Dell OpenManage Essentials\Database\Master
and in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Dell Computer Corporation\Dell OpenManage Essentials\Database\UserDefined
back to a local SQL Instance with a trusted connection, no SQL authentication...
I stopped the services of OME and changed the Keys to reflect the situation before the patch installation.
When I restarted the services and tried to connect to the OME console I was asked to provide the database server, db name and access credentials. After I entered them the reg key were rewritten and now everything works as before...

Ok,
Looks like the issue that is resolved by a one-off patch that the support team can provide (fixes the registry key).
Please open a ticket at 800-945-3355 .
Regards,
Rob
