Firmware update for R620 750w power supply
I'm running OME v2.0 and it reported we needed to apply a critical update to our 750w power supplies on our R620 servers (Power_Firmware_JX7PR_WIN64_09.2B.80_A00.EXE)
I've installed the update on 2 of our R620 servers and did not receive any errors. After the update process completes (and multiple reboots), it still shows the older firmware (v07.2B.80) is still installed.
Curious if anyone else has had this problem or successfully updated their power supply firmware.

Same issue. R620, current PSU FW 07.2B.80, OME 2.0.1. PSU FW never gets updated.

Just out of interest, have you tried pulling the power to both PSUs, doing a flea reset and then plugging both power cables back in, powering server on and then try flashing the FW again. I've had the same problem with the PE620s before like this and after I did this the FW went on. I'm not too sure which version of FW I had the trouble with. Dell have now released a newer FW which is going on without a problem.. so far..

Tried draining flea power with the exact same procedure you are describing many times, but firmware update still fails.
Do you have more info on the new firmware. Like version or a link?

I must correct myself. The FW you mentioned is the latest for thie PSU manufactured by Delta. I've had a look at our servers and I can see one of ours that has the same current FW requiring an upgrade to the latest version you mentioned. Let me test this upgrade and come back to you.

Don, totally understand your frustration. I'm trying to get visibility on this and am passing along the feedback in this thread.

BPU and folks,
Yes, as an OME guy, I hear you and apologize. OME is limited by the support the drivers (DUPS) give us.
If you call in for support on this issue, you may reference this KB link below.
Thanks,
Rob

The Quickfix article Rob is linking is a pretty good update. It lists technical details and all known workarounds. Also 13G server will have improvements in PSU FW versioning/updates is what the article says.
At the end of the day it seems there is no update/fix for 12G however.

I understand that power supply firmware updates will not update the Primary/PFC Bootloader version, but will update the Secondary/Housekeeping Bootloader version, etc. Is there something that could be done in OME or an update catalog that would keep the firmware from being flagged because the firmwaare update will not update the Primary/PFC Bootloader version? Thank you.

Is there any point it being available as an update. It won't work in the conventional sense so what is the point of including it as an update. All it's doing at the moment is casuing users concerns that there may be a problem with the PSU not upgrading when infact it's all to do with the firmware and what it requires in order to update the PSU.

Is this PSU Firmware issue sorted now I have just taken delivery of a T320 and applied firmware update it reported needed doing. It immediately killed the machine and nothing would restart it until I pulled mains leads out the back and waited for PSUs to discharge. PC restarted with one PSU just sitting there blinking at me and LCD says PSU2 is incorrectly configured.

No, it has not. And, the update takes upwards of 20 minutes to apply the update. Per the Important Information for this power supply:
IMPORTANT: After successful power supply firmware download, the managed system will turn off for a duration ranging from three to twenty minutes to continue updating the PSU firmware. Once the firmware update is complete, the managed system will reboot automatically.
CAUTION! Performing an AC power cycle or cold boot during power supply firmware update, forces the power supply unit to enter into an irrecoverable state and will cause managed system not to boot.
WARNING: After successful PSU FW Update on PSU PN: 5NF18, PSU FW Version shall be 07.2B.80
So OME will continue to prompt you to update the firmware as 09.2B.80 is less than 09.2B.80.
