Can you please try this? Do an IISRESET from the command prompt on the OME server using the "iisreset" command. You will need to run the command prompt as administrator. After that, launch OME, right click on the task you had created and select "run". Then, provide the credentials. Please let us know if this works.
Were iDRAC 6 and iDRAC 7 discovered and inventoried using WSMAN ?
These servers were discovered only via WS-MAN
If iDRAC 6/7 were inventoried using WSMAN, do you see "Software Inventory Information", for each iDRAC (Manage->Devices->RAC- ->Details tab).
Yes, we see full Software Inventory Information for each server.
From Manage->System Updates, does the compliance report (pie chart) show these iDRACs (servers) as non-compliant ?
System Update shows these servers as non-compliant.
For each iDRAC (server) that is listed under non-compliant section, are all the available updates shown ?
Yes, there are numerous updates listed. 1 of the servers we proceeded to perform a manual iDRAC Firmware install with the same installer and the manual upgrade worked.
Do you see the above error after selecting these updates and applying it ?
Yes, select either 1 or all updates, key in iDRAC authentication ID & password (which works directly on the iDRAC) and then apply the updates. It takes about 10 seconds and then the job will fail with the error I posted prior.
Are you planning to update the CMC in a chassis (PowerEdge M1000e) ?
Yes, we actually have 2 CMCs left to upgrade from 4.30 to 4.40, which show in System Update, but fail with the same error as the iDRAC failures.
Raj - Any updates on this issue? We are experiencing the same using OME 1.2 - I have only tested by pointing OME to iDRACs of R720s (WS-MAN) running ESXi 5.0 U2 (no OMSA on ESXi).
There is a patch created for OME 1.2 and this problem has been addressed in the patch. We are trying to come up with as much details as we can in the read me for the patch. The date is not final yet for the release of the patch but it will be soon.

To add to that, it will be good to keep an eye on the minimum recommended configuration on the OME server.

Ron,
This issue has been found locally in Dell lab and is currently under investigation. We will have more updates early next week.
Thanks,
