Hi and thanks for the post.

OME 1.1 was a large release and the beginning of development pre-dated stable Windows 2012 builds.  So we put the priority on getting new OME features out the door.

We are at work now on the next version of OME and at the top of the list is being able to install to a Windows 2012 management station.

Of course, you can monitor Windows 2012 nodes with OME today.  And some folks might be able to use an R2 VM running in Windows 2012.

The OME marketing team has not announced a date for OME 1.2, but I don't expect it would be CY2012 since OME 1.1 just posted.

Thanks,

Rob

Thanks for posting this - I am looking forward to this as well.  (as a start, being able to replace "unknown windows os distribution" with server 2012 text on discovered servers will make me happier (and also lead to better integration with the catalog and 2012 drivers)

If I understand, the operating system name is shown as "unknown windows os distribution" in the device inventory page.

What protocol was used to discover this server ? Is it a RTS version of Windows Server 2012 ?

I thought this info was only shown in Beta version of Windows 2012. Could you please confirm ?

Thanks,

OMSA version 7.1

Here's what it lists in OMSA for OS:

Name - Unknown Windows OS Distribution

Version - 6.2 (build 9200) x64

As an FYI - it's running 2012 datacentre edition

Hi there

I used SNMP and WMI to discover/inventory the server.  It is the RTM version of 2012 on a couple R710s

We have found out that the issue is related to OMSA 7.1 or earlier versions as it does not support Windows Server 2012. The newer version of OMSA 7.2 slated to release in December 2012 will address this issue.

Thanks,
