Minimum Firmware Levels
Is there any documentation on what the minimum DRAC firmware level needs to be installed in order for OME to work properly? I can provide a list of the Dell models we're running if that would help.
I keep running into issues with the firmware level not being high enough for OME to discover the devices properly. It would be nice to have a definitive answer as far as what the firmware version requirements are.

Hi there and thanks for the post.
Is this a 12G server?
Take a look at this whitepaper on www.delltechcenter.com/ome.
There was an issue with 1.30.30. So you really need to update past that to have OME see the updates.
Take a look at this and see if it helps.

We have a mix of 11g/12g servers. 11g servers running 3.00~ of the firmware do not report correctly (either under an incorrect chassis or not all information is pulled). It seems like the only firmware version that works is 3.30 which isn't documented anywhere.

Right. So I'll be sure the support matrix gets updated on the next release with the new minimum levels.
The whitepaper above mentions (12G) that you have to update to 1.31.30 to see the available updates.
For 11G, I can't recall if there was a similar problem. I will inquire.
Are the 11G blades or rack mount(or both)?

We have a combination of both. The blades have weird issues if they aren't running at least 3.3. For example, a couple of the blades show up under a chassis that doesn't exist, but all 3.3 or higher report in correctly.
Thanks for the info.

11G servers is bit of a problem. Each iDRAC firmware revision has its own dependencies and limitations. I would say 3.30 should work just fine. Make sure to enable CSIOR (Collect System Inventory on Restart). If a blade server is moved to a different chassis or removed from a chassis, it may still show up under inventory unless CSIOR is run. CSIOR forces BIOS to update hardware inventory cache in LC on reboot.
