Not getting test traps

Hi Team,

I am able to see the dell chasis and dell blade on dell ome, but not able to get the test trap from dell hardware. In snmp trap i given the destination as dell ome, but still not getting.

2nd thing, in scanned devices i am not getting the ip of cmc.

161 and 162 ports are opened between dell ome and dell hardware.

Can you please help here.

Do you have the trap set up on the OME server?

Are you using a custom trap name? If so have you configure the devices to send to that custom trap name?

Hi Bharat,

1. From where are you sending SNMP test trap, server (iDRAC) or chassis (CMC)?

2. What entries do you see in NIC Information table for CMC?

3. Try Troubleshooting tool's SNMP trap reception test to verify if the test traps are reaching OME server. If they do, try restarting SNMP trap service followed by OME services and see if the issue gets resolved.

I too get this issue.

If I send a test IPMI or SNMP test trap from an DRAC to the Dell OME server it does not show up in OME Console.

If I have the Dell Daig Tool open and SNMP listener running on the Dell OME server, I can see the events appear.

Why do they not show in the OME console for the unit?

Thanks

Please see if this helps:

1. Restart (Windows) SNMP Trap service.

2. Restart OME services from general settings.

Hi Shiv,

1. I tried from both blade idrac and cmc as well, but no luck.

[Point #3 from above]

Try Troubleshooting tool's SNMP trap reception test to verify if the test traps are reaching OME server. If they do, try restarting SNMP trap service followed by OME services and see if the issue gets resolved.

If this test is also negative, check which process is holding port #162 on OME server. It should always be used by (Windows) SNMP Trap service.

Also, make sure there is no firewall between DC (iDRAC/CMC) network and OME server network which might be blocking the SNMP packets.

This is how you do it.

1. Launch Dell Troubleshooting tool (installed along with OME).

2. Navigate to Miscellaneous (Local Box) tab.

3. Select SNMP Trap Listner from Select Test list.

4. Select Windows SNMP Trap Listner radio button and press start.

5. Now send the test trap from iDRAC/CMC.

6. See if it gets received in the command dialog.

7. Stop once done.

Here is what I get. Yet no alert in the OME console itself.

If OME services restart is not resolving the issue after successful TT test, I would request you to get in touch with Dell Support to have a closer look and help you out.
