OMSA 7.1 use dangerous version of Java
Hello,
we have detected, that OMSA 7.1 uses Java 6.30. Java 6.x is known as highly dangerous, so we removed OMSA from all critical Servers, in first line the DCs.
On the other hand this means, that we cannot manage this servers with OME, what is an serious handicap.
Plans Dell to update OMSA to Java 7? Or better, to remove Java from OMSA?

Hi Barbara, thanks for the post.
disclaimer: I'm not an OMSA expert (just OME :) ) you might find some more OMSA folks at the general forum below.

But a few comments. The next version of OMSA is releasing very soon (OM 7.2) and it uses Java 1.7.x..
Also, if you are just trying to manage your servers via OME, you may try installing OMSA but do not install the web server/client component. I think that will just install the instrumentation that can be used by OME. Of course you won't get the OMSA web/http client, but you can still manage it via OME, collect inventory, health, etc.
That might be something you can look at while waiting for OM 7.2 to release.

Hello Rob,
thank you for your answer.
I tested it and it functions. As work around we can live with OMSA without web server. Perhaps it is additionally a solution for our WSUS Servers. The OMSA web server crashes the WSUS reporting Server.
