OME is free for monitoring...regardless of the number of devices.
There is an upsell component that involves a special iDRAC license. But that is only if you want to use it for configuring settings on servers remotely.
You might be thinking of OpenManage Network Manager...that's a tool for managing switches and such.

Hi there,
Right, OME is free unless customers want to use the server configuration features (described in the top of delltechcenter.com/ome). To use the server config stuff they need an iDrac enterprise license _with_ the OME option attached to it. I forget what the specific name is. Let me know on the internal email group if you need more background.
Thanks!

OME 2.1 regarding alert settings, not able to receive email alerts.
Is there any specific setting required while configuring the alerts.

Hi There,
Thanks for your post!
To receive email alerts, a SMTP server is required. So, while creating an email alert action task in OME you would need to provided the SMTP settings(server name\ip address), which will enable OME to send email alerts.
Or you can also configure SMTP settings from "Settings > Email Settings".
Hope this helps!
Thanks

OME is free of charge, only the OS deployment and server configuration is a license on top of the iDRAC.
See http://delltechcenter.com/ome
License Info:
Licensing OpenManage Essentials “Server Configuration Management”: OpenManage Essentials (OME) is available as a free software download. The download of OpenManage Essentials software also includes the opportunity to download and activate Dell SupportAssist services. In addition, Dell offers fee-based “Server Configuration Management” licenses that enable template–based deployment and configuration of bare-metal PowerEdge servers, detection of server configuration drift, virtual IO management. and state-less computing, among several additional management capabilities. “Server Configuration Management” licenses are available at both POS (Point-Of-Sale) with a server purchase and APOS (After-Point-Of-Sale) for 12G & 13G PowerEdge servers. License SKUS for OpenManage Essentials “Server Configuration Management” are as follows:
