Sql error codes when performing status polling
Hey guys,
I set up OME on a win 2k8 r2 system with sql express 2008 R2 running on the same local machine
every time i do a status check i get this in the application logs
Inventory Manager Exception; Device: 1252612908 , Exception: Failed to insert or
update records due to non-unique data in columns of table. : Error executing the
SQL Statement:INSERT INTO Agent
(AgentId,AgentManufacturer,AgentDescription,DeviceId) VALUES(?,?,?,?) Error:
SQL_ERROR results: SQL Error State: 23000, Native Error Code: 203, ODBC Error
Text: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Cannot insert the value
NULL into column 'AgentName', table 'OMEssentials.dbo.Agent'; column does not
allow nulls. INSERT fails. SQL_ERROR results continued: SQL Error State: 01000,
Native Error Code: E25, ODBC Error Text: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL
Server]The statement has been terminated. ODBC_DatabaseConnection::AddTableRow()
is this permissions? i mean everything has been discovered, its just that i dont think status is being updated... :(
any ideas?
thanks :)

Hi,
Thanks for the post.
Logs may have multiple errors. That doesn't always translate to loss of functionality. Are you seeing that none of the discovered devices are showing status?

hi,i got a same error like below:
Inventory Manager Exception; Device: 2077460267 , Exception: Failed to insert or update records due to non-unique data in columns of table. : Error executing the SQL Statement:INSERT INTO Agent (AgentId,AgentGlobalStatus,AgentManufacturer,AgentDescription,DeviceId) VALUES(?,?,?,?,?) Error: SQL_ERROR results: SQL Error State: 23000, Native Error Code: 203, ODBC Error Text: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Cannot insert the value NULL into column 'AgentName', table 'OMEssentials.dbo.Agent'; column does not allow nulls. INSERT fails. SQL_ERROR results continued: SQL Error State: 01000, Native Error Code: E25, ODBC Error Text: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]The statement has been terminated. ODBC_DatabaseConnection::AddTableRow()
this appear every 1 hour, looks like happed every status pull.
and i have a linux(centos5.7) client in "unknown" group. OME can't pull status more than ip.
but can access the OMSA webserver on this client by brower.
any ideas?
thanks~

Thanks for the post.
Can you run the Dell Troubleshooting Tool SNMP test against that target?
What version of OMSA is reported in the result set?
Thanks,
Rob

Ok, thanks. This helps a bit.
First, it is a bit of a concern that the TS tool was not on your OME server. We install it by default. Are you using OME 1.0.1? So I'm a bit worried about that....anyway...
When you run the TS SNMP test against your Linux (or Win) target, you *must* see the OMSA version in the result set. If you do not...full stop, you will never work.
So it is important at this point to review your OMSA install on your target. Sorry if this was suggested earlier in the thread, I'm just jumping in here, but have you reviewed the Linux/OMSA config movie on delltechcenter.com/ome? As well as the tutorial section in OME that talks about how to config OMSA linux for discovery on OME?
Once we are able to sort out your OMSA install, OME will discover and inventory the box just fine.
Thanks,
Rob

Thanks for this detail. But it is not exactly what I need.
Please run the Dell Troubleshooting Tool that is installed on the OME desktop.
Run the SNMP test and tell me the results. I need to know what OMSA version is reported in this result set to see if it is communicating as expected.
Thanks very much,
Rob

Rob,,thank you.
the OME version is 1.0.1. i run snmp test against other client. it give out the omsa version as you said. because the linux box 's OMSA webserver can work. so i never considered the config may wrong. i'll focus on it.
if i can go further, i will update it here.
thanks for you help again.

it's a power supply error. i didn't use power supply redundancy.

Ok, this looks better.
So they way it works (and I think you determined this as well) is that OME will get a critical status reported from OMSA (Server Administrator). Now what you do is click on the Server Administrator hyperlink and the details in OMSA will tell you what the problem is.
Looks like you are in good shape now.
Good luck,
Rob
