Configuration of ME4012 and ME412

We are planning to purchase an ME4012 with 12 sets of HDD and 2 sets of ME412 with 10 sets of HDD each. Is it possible to form an ADAPT using all the 32 sets of HDD?

And for common RAID type such as R6, can it span over multiple arrays?

Hello milanpwc,

Is it possible to form an ADAPT using all the 32 sets of HDD? No, it is not possible.  The ME4012 allows a max of 9 expansion enclosures.  The max number of drives that the system is 120 drives.  Here is the link to the support matrix for the ME4 systems that explains all the limitations. https://dell.to/3EAysZK

I do not quite get it. We have a total of 32 drives distributed across ME4012 and ME412 (2 sets). The total is less than 120-drive limit you mentioned.

Hello milanpwc,

When you were stating sets, I thought that you were talking about more than a single drive.  I thought that you were wanting to use 264 drives.  Since you are trying to use just 32 drives you can do so as long as you follow Adapt rules.  Here is a link to the administrator guide for your ME4012 and it explains how adapt will work.  https://dell.to/3nWqbZA
