Questions on Virtual Memory
Good morning all:
I have a Dell Dimension 8250 with Pentium 4; 2.40GHz: 256mb of RAM: 64mb GeForced MX Graphics: 120GB Ultra ATA/100 Hard Drive, 7200RPM. That's about all I can come up with. I hope it helps, because I need help from this forum.
Lately I have been having some major issues with this computer. It runs slow, it freezes (constantly) and that's just a sample.
A few times an icon came up on my taskbar with a message that my "Virtual Memory" was low and that certain programs might not run correctly because of it.
I looked in the support section of the startup menu and found information about virtual memory and how to add on MBs, but I am already way past the suggested limits.
Can you please tell me what kind of memory card do I need to purchase to resolve this problem? I have an idea that it might be the RDRAM, but I am not sure. Can you tell me if this is correct and if it's not then please let me know what memory card I need to buy.
Also, just to be certain, is this lack of virtual memory the cause of all the freeze-ups and slowness?
I would really appreciate your help.

Off my head your system uses RDRAM, which can be very expensive due to the limited implementation. There are some recent posts from people asking about upgrading memory in the 8250 that you may want to check out.

Thank you Dennis. I'll do as you advice. This computer is driving me crazy, so I hope this works.
Have a great day!
