Altec Lansing ADA745
Just purchased a Dimension 4550 and got Altec Lansing ADA745 Speaker system with it. The only instructions that came with the speakers was a diagram on how to connect wiring. My problem is that the cables are not long enough to place the speakers where they need to be in the room. Does anyone know what I need to do to extend them?

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
You should be able to go to your local Radio Shack and get an extension cable for each connection that you want to have longer. You should also be able to get them in any length that you want.

You should be able to tell them what you need or you can take the cables with you and you can have them match the connection.

Per "JaySmiths" post, you can ONLY do this for the RCA type plugs. The satellites having RCA plugs are the: front-left, rear-right, rear-left. Most any RCA plug with a straight metal exterior should do the job. (Don't get any with excess plastic molding on the outside of the connector as they may not fit into the Sub-W jack)
If you need to extend the front right satellite, it can't be done. (unless, of course, you're real handy with a soldering iron, shielded wire, shrink tubing, etc.)
Good Luck !!

actually you could extend the front one - it uses a modify S-video cable - simply geta 9 pin s-video cable and a 2 femaled end plug - but good luck finding one of those - radio shack does not care s-video extension adapters it seems and i have only found one or 2 places on the net that do and they were in europe.
