Bad BIOS upgrade

Hey,

I have a Dell Inspiron 2020. The DELL website suggested a BIOS update. While the BIOS was updating, the system froze and was like that for an hour or so. After that it suddenly died. I haven't been able to turn on the machine since. The power LED blinks and then goes out. The screen is completely blank.

Any suggestions / solutions?

Some have been able to recover from a bad BIOS update by removing the internal button battery for a minute and reinstalling. However, this is a low probability fix. Most often the system board needs to be replaced. If under warranty, contact Dell.

I tried installing the BIOS using a bootable flash drive but the screen doesn't light up so I cannot proceed with the installation.

There are no "beeps" or any other indications.

Is it possible that I've bricked my Motherboard  (an assumption based on what I've been reading online).

If yes, where can I buy a new motherboard?

It's likely that your motherboard is bricked; hopefully, Dell will replace it under warranty. If not, you can buy a new one directly from Dell, or from a third party supplier (of which there are several on eBay). Unfortunately, either way, it won't be cheap.
