boot to password

I have a dimension xpst500. I am running windows 98. I would like to keep my son off of my computer. The screensaver password does not work. He just turns the system off and reboots. When the password box comes up he clicks past it. How can I boot to a password so he can not get on at all if the PC is off?

go to start > settings > control panel > passwords. Or for real security, set a password up in the security section of your BIOS.

When starting the computer, at the bottom of the screen, it says press DEL to enter setup. Do so. There you will see, Main, Advanced, Security (where you want to go), Power, Boot, Exit. Using your arrow keys, go to Security. You want the Set USER password, not the second one SETUP, unless you want to restrict access to the bios. When finished, hit Esc, go to Exit. Hit Enter, it will ask if you want to save the changes, yes. The system will reboot, and should ask for a password. **Be sure to keep the password in a safe place. If it is forgotten you will have to reset jumper switches.
