Date and time error message on Dimension 3000

I have a Dimension 3000 and just recently started getting a date & time not set right error message upon boot. I go into the Bios and set them but the next time I turn on the computer I get the message again. Why isn't it hold the date and time?

The battery on the motherboard for the BIOS is bad and will need to be replaced. The battery is a standard

3-V CR2032 lithium coin cell.
