Dell Inspiron 660s Intel Processor replacement/upgrades
I read somewhere (the Owner's Manual on pp. 59, 66) on Dell Inspiron 660s that I purchased in May that one can either replace the Processor chip/fan. I do have a Intel Dual Core processor and all is good. Is there a way that I can like upgrade the processor to like an Core i3? I realize that it's a small computer and it would be impossible to expand things like an extra hard drive or a video card, but I wanted to know if changing the processor and the fan is possible.

Hi J1,
Yes, you should have no trouble going to an i5. Dell-Chris M listed these as compatible with the 660:
972H5 3.30GHz i3-2120 Sandy Bridge, 3MB, 65W, Q0
JN8M2 3.10GHz i5-3450 Ivy Bridge Quad Core, 6MB, 77W, E1
Either should work fine with your power supply.

Hello J1,
In addition to what Osprey4 has said, I would like to say that The Inspiron 660s is shipped with Intel i3, i5, Pentium, and Celeron processors. Please refer to the table below for more details:
You may contact our Spare parts to order any of the above mentioned processors for your computer. Contact number for Dell Spare Parts sales team # 1-800-357-3355 (US Customers only).
Hope this help!

Such good replies, don't know why I can't get updates as to whether I get new responses.
In any case...
This is quite interesting, as I have never would do that with any system (my first one was a Dell Dimension 4400 and my soon to be repaired XPS 420), but was shocked to find out that I can do that with the 660s. I most certainly bookmark this as I'm quite interested to give my system a boost - especially the Core i5
My system has the Intel Pentium G2020 Dual Core at 2.9GHz
Thank you so much for the replies, and other tips are welcomed as well.

Without overclocking ability of course. Oh, and it looks like this cpu doesn't have integrated graphics....
